Franck Muller Reveals Two Special Watches for the Year of the Dragon

During Lunar New Year, watch brands usually launch special watches to celebrate the occasion. But Franck Muller told its artists, “Let’s make something different from the usual ‘zodiac watches’.” This brings us the fun Cintrée Curvex Ryoko Kaneta Dragon Limited Edition and the fashionable Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Limited Edition. The artists really went all out to fulfill that request.

Special Dragon Edition Watch: Cintrée Curvex Ryoko Kaneta

After the well-liked 2023 Franck MULLER Vanguard, which celebrated the Year of the Rabbit with a special clock face combining Swiss watchmaking and Japanese street fashion, the latest watch is a collaboration with Japanese artist Ryoko Kaneta.

This fresh design has a playful take on the mythical dragon, transforming it into a set of doll-like girls—a recognizable feature of Kaneta’s art style.

Every doll-like character on the watch does something special with the numbers on the clock’s face, adding a playful touch that stands out from the classic style of the Cintrée Curvex case. Kaneta picked this way of showing “dragons” as a way to respond to the curved shapes of the Cintrée Curvex in 3D, motivating her to make her figures interact with the numbers on the clock’s face.

Drawn in a “chibi” style similar to Japan’s love for cute things, the characters on the clock are mostly in black and white. Their hair has a bit of aqua blue, representing their job as rain-bringers. The turquoise clock face, matching paint colors, and textured pattern catch the light, and it comes with a turquoise strap that goes with the whole look.

The unique Cintrée Curvex Ryoko Kaneta Dragon Limited Edition holds onto the familiar features of Franck Muller’s Cintrée Curvex watch. It has the unique 5850 Cintrée Curvex case with complicated curves.

The clock hands look like spades, and the numbers are in Arabic. It runs on the trustworthy MVT FM 2536-SC automatic movement, making it great for wearing every day.Only found in the Asia Pacific area, the special Cintrée Curvex Ryoko Kaneta Dragon Limited Edition comes in a small batch of only 500 pieces.

Franck Muller released three new watches that focus on the mythical dragon in the Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Limited Edition. This special set includes three decorated models of the Vanguard Slim Skeleton, each with a specially engraved spinner depicting a dragon, giving the impression of the creature wrapping around the mechanism like a mystical protector.

Franck Muller keeps many of the special parts that made the Vanguard Slim Skeleton popular among fans. The open-worked movement, first made to match the slim shape (specifically 9.1mm) of the Vanguard Slim, brings in an interesting difference.

The strong character of the Vanguard looks even more exciting when combined with the see-through movement and well-proportioned design, showing off Franck Muller’s skill in creating and styling. To add a bit of sparkle, diamonds arranged in a pattern bring a dazzling brightness to these watches, turning them into truly eye-catching pieces.

The Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Rouge comes in red, and the Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Vert is in green. These pops of color also show up in their colored glass backs and filled-in hands. The third version, the Vanguard Dragon Slim Skeleton Color Dreams, goes for a see-through back but adds a burst of lively colors to the clock face through its numbers.

Only 10 of each of these watches will be sold, and you can only get them at Franck Muller stores in the Asia Pacific area.
