UR-FREAK: When two watch rebels team up
The UR-FREAK is the result of two adventurous watch brands—Ulysse Nardin and Urwerk—joining hands. This release stands out because it mixes two big ideas from each brand and turns them into one very futuristic-looking watch. It’s also a limited-edition reimagining of Ulysse Nardin’s Freak — a watch already known for being bold, strange, and innovative.
A Design That Looks Like the Future
Ulysse Nardin brings its spinning “carousel” system, while Urwerk adds its moving hour satellites. These two features normally have nothing to do with each other, but somehow they’re now working together inside one movement called the UN-241.
The watch is large at 44mm and comes in a grey titanium case. The bright electric yellow details make it stand out instantly—you notice it even from far. And instead of a normal crown, you set and wind the watch by turning the bezel and the caseback, which is a classic Freak trademark. It also comes with a bold yellow rubber strap to match the whole vibe.
High-Tech Mechanics
The technical terms sound heavy, but the idea is simple: the movement uses materials like silicon and diamond-coated silicon, making everything inside tougher, smoother, and more efficient. The parts rotate and jump in perfect sync, almost like a tiny mechanical performance happening on your wrist.
Design and Exclusivity
The openworked layout lets you look straight into the “engine” of the watch. The style is clean, futuristic, and very on-brand for both companies. Only 100 pieces will be produced, which means very few people will ever own one, making it extra special.
Why This Collaboration Matters?
What makes this watch impressive is the amount of effort it took to combine two totally different systems. More than half the movement had to be redesigned from scratch. That shows how serious both brands were about creating something genuinely new, not just doing a simple collaboration.

To Sum It Up
The UR-FREAK is more than a partnership—it’s a statement. It shows what can happen when two creative watchmakers try something new and risky. You don’t have to be a watch expert to see how unique, technical, and limited this piece is. This collab raises the bar for future watch partnerships and gives a small preview of where independent watchmaking might be heading.
