Richard Mille is a noted car enthusiast, especially classic racing cars. It made total sense, therefore, that he was one half of the duo that established the Le Mans Classic in 2002.
The biennial event is more than a simple race around the famed 13.65km circuit, but is an enthusiast spectacular attended by in excess of 100,000 classic and vintage car lovers from all over the globe.
Back when the event was first launched, it was the only time, aside from the headline 24 Hours of Le Mans race, that the full circuit (including public roads that must be closed) had been used for a race.
The event incorporates a huge classic car show on the grounds and a series of races for pre-1979 cars that have either taken part in the 24 Hours race or would have been eligible to do so back in the day from when the race was first established in 1923.
